In our continued effort to give back to our community, the GSFTA Gives Back has teamed up with Newby-Ginnings for the 2018 OoozaPalooza Food Truck Rally. All proceeds from the beer garden will go to GSFTA Gives Back and Newby-Ginnings. Both organizations focus on helping local veterans and homeless individuals throughout our community and ensuring they receive the honor, respect and love they deserve.

In 2012 a group of food truck owners got together and founded The Greater Spokane Food Truck Association (GSFTA) which serves up delicious mobile food to the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene masses. In 2016, those same food truck owners banded together to hold monthly events throughout the winter months to feed, clothe, and warm the homeless in our community. The food was donated by the food truckers and the clothing was donated by members of our community. We were able to feed, on average, 100 homeless men, women, and children at each event. In November 2017, GSFTA Gives Back finally received its 501 (c) (3) designation which now allows us to take donations in order to help even more people who are less fortunate.

Our mission is to help those in need and team up with other nonprofits. One of the ways we help our community is by utilizing what we have to offer... FOOD! We feed the homeless and those in need as well as provide them with warm clothes, blankets, and items they have specifically requested. We encourage the public to also donate cold weather items that will be distributed to the homeless. On a regular basis, Greater Spokane Food Truck Association members deliver food to the homeless or to families in need. We also bring food to local shelters like the Hope House.

Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, Inc. (“Newby-ginnings”) was created in October 2013 in

Honor and Memory of SPC Nicholas Newby who was killed in action in Baghdad,Iraq on July 7, 2011.

Basic necessities. Common comforts. Things that most of us take for granted everyday. Gratitude and respect for time served and sacrifices made for our freedom. That's what Newby-ginnings strives to provide to our Veterans, our Active Servicemen and Women, and our Gold Star Families every day. With no hoops. No red tape. No appointments.  No waiting months on end. And we do this with the support of our community. With nothing but donations and fundraisers. Because no money exchanges hands. There are no income eligibility guidelines and no proof of need required. Whatever they need, at no charge.

So far, in 4 years, we have assisted over well 1400 Veterans, Active Servicemen and Women and Gold Star Families in our area.  From Montana, Cheney, Deer Park and everywhere in between. We average about 100 visitors to our shop every day that we are open and we enroll at least 10 new Veterans a week.
